.You can use the Christchurch Repeater if you’re within range by putting the radio into “Duplex” mode (this varies depending on what brand of radio you have). You should hear a short burst (tail) after you transmit. This confirms your are in range and have your radio setup correctly.

It is a publicly available service that depends on donations and your support to keep running.

The laws the government have brought into place restricting the use of mobile phones while driving do not include or restrict in any way the use of Radios or the use of any other kind of two-way radio while driving.
